Employers encouraged to become Disability Confident at Atherstone Business Breakfast Networking Event

Craig Tracey MP, North Warwickshire Borough Council and Atherstone Job Centre Plus are holding an event to highlight the financial, operational and social benefits of being a Disability Confident Employer.

The Business Breakfast takes place from 8am to 10am on Friday 7th October in Atherstone at the Borough Council Offices.  The event will demonstrate to local businesses how they can benefit from making the most of the talent that exists amongst disabled people in our area.

Local MP Craig Tracey said:
“Many local businesses are currently facing challenges with regard to recruitment due to the very low levels of unemployment in our area. This event is designed to enable businesses to access a wider talent pool by making them aware of sources of advice and support for making their workplace more inclusive.”

The event is supported by Penny Mordaunt the Minister for Disabled People, Health and Work. By working with local employers, role models and employees this event will showcase how people with a disability can make a major contribution to local business success

Claire Hindson from Jobcentre Plus said:
“Disabled people make up almost 20% of the working age population, many being highly qualified individuals. But sometimes employers can be reluctant to employ them, missing out on a valuable pool of potential and skills.  This event will challenge negative attitudes to disability employment by showcasing how people with a disability can be a major contributor to business success.”

Any local businesses who wish to attend would be most welcome, please contact North Warwickshire Borough Council on 01827 715341.
