Road safety and speeding motorists are important issues to local people. I am raising awareness of the issue in our local communities. I have surveyed residents' opinion on road safety & raised your views to the Minister for local Roads & the County Council. I’m taking resident’s concerns on local road safety seriously. I met with the Transport portfolio holder at the County Council to explain concerns with the Trinity Road Junction, action on speeding in residential areas, and the need for an extended footpath on the A444.
I am pleased that our campaign to put in safety measures at the Trinity Road Junction has seen some success. We are told that traffic lights will be put in place as part of infrastructure for a nearby housing development.
I have also been campaigning in Parliament with the family of Sean Morley to bring in tougher sentences for dangerous drivers. We are making progress with a consultation now taking place with new proposals which we have called for.
When local residents raised concerns over illegal motor bike racers on Baddesley Common. I immediately raised this problem with local police, who acted quickly to arrange a patrol team to help stop this anti-social behaviour. They are already seeing successes with tackling this problem.
I am aware that biker racing is a problem across the constituency and will continue to work with the local police and residents to stop this crime.
Under Labour crime and anti-social behaviour was out of control, now, since the Conservatives have come to Government we have reduced the amount of bureaucracy that the police have to deal with so they can spend more time patrolling our communities. Crime has fallen by 10% nationally and, despite what Labour would try to make you believe, North Warwickshire & Bedworth is one of the safest places to live and work in the country.
