Today I hosted a very important roundtable on what we can do to improve our Mental Health provision for young people across Bedworth and Nuneaton. This is off the back of some extremely tragic cases in both constituencies, particularly around the suicides of young males.
I have been working with local schools over the last few months, including with Nicholas Chamberlaine School Head, Mark Bland, to look at where the gaps exist and I was delighted to be able to pull such a fantastic group of 17 stakeholders together including Mind, WCC and other experts in the area. From my discussions with them, they really demonstrated their commitment to get this right.
The good news is that there is a lot of fantastic work going into the provision of Mental Health care in Warwickshire, particularly for young people. However, we still identified several areas where we can improve and there were some great ideas put in place, with both short and long term solutions put forward.
Along with my Nuneaton colleague Marcus Jones MP, I look forward to continue working with all those who participated/who were involved on the call today so that we can get these initiatives moving forward as quickly as possible. There will be more information to follow very shortly
