At the end of last year, Craig wrote to residents to let them know that working with residents and your local Councillors, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council had agreed our requests to remove the Woodlands as a Strategic Site allocation (HSG4) of the Local Plan if they could reduce the number of homes it had to take from Coventry City Council, which was adopted by the previous administration. Unfortunately, this process has yet to be completed as Coventry are reluctant to do so, meaning that the adoption of the plan has been delayed until 2024 when the decision is made by the Independent Planning Inspectorate.
However, in the meantime, Craig has been informed that Savills, who act on behalf of Arbury Estates, intend to submit a planning application off Woodlands Lane for around 150 dwellings, which is incredibly disappointing as they are fully aware of the intention of Councillors in Bedworth to remove this site from the Borough Plan. They are holding a public engagement event on Friday 24th March at Bedworth Heath Community Centre on Smorrall Lane between 10:30 – 20:00, which I would strongly urge you to attend to ensure that you have the opportunity at this early stage to see the proposals and share your views with the developers.
Over the coming days, I will be consulting with your Bedworth Councillor team on the best strategy to try to bring this to an end, but in the event that an application is brought forward by Arbury Estates, Craig will be holding his own “How to consult effectively” event, to able people to formally submit their views to the Council at the appropriate time.
