The total number of unemployed claimants in North Warwickshire and Bedworth decreased by 55 last month compared to May 2017, a figure welcomed by local MP Craig Tracey.
These latest figures show that unemployment in our community is now at 1.6%, whereas the average in the UK is 2.5%.
Craig Tracey, whose focus on local employment includes hosting jobs fairs for residents, commented:
“It is really positive that local unemployment has fallen again and nationally unemployment continues to fall. I cannot understate the importance and security that a job brings to people and their families. Our local economy continues to grow and businesses here are investing in job creation. It is also good news for young people in our community, with unemployment falling again for 18-24 year olds, with s reduction of 15 compared to last month.”
Employment figures released this week show the number of people in work is at a record high nationally, with more than 2.96 million people in work since 2010, while the number of people out of work is at the lowest level in over 40 years.
These figures are another reminder that our strong economy is giving record numbers of people the chance to find and stay in work.
