Craig met with the Police and Crime Commissioner, Philip Seccombe, this morning to discuss the Budget for year ahead and local policing priorities.
Its was great to hear that they are very close to the target of 1100 officers and there was a commitment to ensure the increase is spread around the County. Craig has already submitted to him the numbers of officers that we need to see around North Warwickshire and Bedworth, which also needs additional provision to cover long term absence and maternity leave.
New IT systems are now in place which should also help to speed up call answering and response times, particularly in 101. Craig also requested the addition of a live chat function on the 101 website to also report crime this way, which is being looked at pending a trial elsewhere.
There are also some interesting changes proposed for later in the year, which Craig believes will bring major benefits to local residents in respect of how the area is policed. More details to follow.
On the subject of new officers, welcome to the newest member of the Coleshill SNT, PC Mark Breeze, who joins us following six years working in Stratford!
