Despite claims and pledges made by Labour only recently, the Woodlands have not been protected.
I have called on the area to be put back into green belt status which would help protect it.
The woodlands is one of the last remaining parts of the countryside in Bedworth and it has a strong case to become green belt.
Unfortunately the Labour party in Bedworth have no regard for our local green spaces and have failed to deliver a Borough Plan which would control housing developments in our communities. Because they have failed to put a plan in place we are not protected from planning applications.
My Labour opponent has remained silent on the need to protect the Woodlands.
Only the Conservatives are calling for the Woodlands to be protected.
The building of these houses will likely cause disruption for local people as well as loss of green spaces, views and wildlife. This could also set a precedent for building in the area; more applications could follow if this is successful.
The application can be found on the Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council website; application reference: 033230
We can still work to save our woodlands.
Please write in to the Council to raise your objections to the application, which could include: loss of green space, that the Woodlands should be a designated green belt area, loss of wildlife, damage to our countryside and disruption to our community.
