Calls from Craig Tracey MP to simplify the process of submitting and having access to documents regarding HS2 have been heeded in a Parliamentary motion.
The latest motion of the scheme states that any requirement for a document to be deposited or delivered to a Government department can be done so in electronic form for phase 2.
In Craig’s petition of the procedures of the HS2 Bills in Parliament in December he called for a ‘standardisation of the process across both Houses of Parliament so that all petitions can be submitted by email’. The MP for North Warwickshire said that the requirement of a submission in person in the Commons burdened the process and excluded some from being able to submit their petitions.
The motion will also allow HS2 Ltd to provide electronic versions of documents for Phase 2 of the project which will make it easier for local councils, businesses and individuals to access and document vital information.
Craig Tracey commented:
“As residents and action groups know I am against HS2, its devastating impact on our community and its lack of a business case. I backed this particular motion as it accepts calls I made to simplify the process therefore allowing better engagement, easy access to information and a stronger voice to those who oppose the scheme.”
