Craig Tracey MP for North Warwickshire and Bedworth hosted a Breast Cancer Care charity promotional event at the House of Commons recently to support the launch of Afternoon Tea, the charity’s annual summer fundraising campaign. Craig is encouraging local residents in our community to join in to support those affected by breast cancer.
The event raised awareness of Afternoon Tea, where people are encouraged to get together with friends, family or colleagues in July to raise vital funds for the UK’s leading breast cancer support charity.
All of the money raised at Afternoon Teas up and down the country will enable Breast Cancer Care to continue to be there to provide free care, support and information to those affected by breast cancer.
Craig, who is a Co-Chair of the Parliamentary Group on Breast Cancer says: “Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK today with 62,000 women and men diagnosed each year. Many people have been affected by this awful disease. That’s why I’m supporting Breast Cancer Care’s Afternoon Tea fundraising campaign, so that the charity can continue to provide its vital support services, to those who need them, for free. I’d like to encourage everyone in North Warwickshire and Bedworth to take part in the fundraiser this summer.
“It is easy to get involved. Simply sign up on the Breast Cancer Care website www.breastcancercare.org.uk/tea7, set a date and invite your friends round for some tea and sandwiches and raise some money.”
Samia al Qadhi, Chief Executive of Breast Cancer Care, says: “We are extremely grateful to Craig for joining us to show his support for Breast Cancer Care’s Afternoon Tea. There has never been a more urgent need for Breast Cancer Care’s vital support services; breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, with 1 in 8 women being diagnosed in their lifetime. I hope many local people sign up to host their own Afternoon Tea.”
