Two years ago I was elected to represent my home community of North Warwickshire and Bedworth with over 20,000 local residents backing me; it was the biggest honour I have ever had and truly humbling.
It meant so much more that this is the community that I have lived in for more than 20 years, where I first met my wife Karen, where we have so many friends and fond memories.
That is the inspiration for why I have worked hard every single day to represent fellow residents and be a strong voice for them in Parliament, whether that has been helping over 2000 local residents with individual cases, supporting parents to ensure a local school bus remained free and their children would not have to walk an unsafe route, regularly meeting with staff at the George Eliot Hospital and supporting them over keeping vital services, working closely with a local family who tragically lost their son in a hit and run in Bedworth to close loopholes in the law and increase sentences to dangerous drivers, holding jobs fairs to promote job and apprentice opportunities for local people and in particular supporting those with long-term health issues back into work.
I have helped the Conservatives to introduce a National Living Wage, giving the lowest paid workers a significant pay increase, I have helped the Conservatives to cut income tax for 28 million people the first £11,500 people earn is now tax free and this will rise to £12,500, and I have helped the Conservative to create 2.7 million more jobs whilst locally unemployment is far lower than the national average. North Warwickshire & Bedworth’s economy continues to grow from strength to strength and we are a major part of the West Midlands being the manufacturing capital of the UK.
I have kept to the pledges and promises I made to you in 2015 and have made progress on each of them, but I am asking for your support again so that I can continue the job I started to help make North Warwickshire and Bedworth an even better place to live and work for everyone.
I believe in Britain and I believe in North Warwickshire & Bedworth. I believe in our potential and the future opportunities that we can grasp. There are uncertain times ahead but by voting for me, residents will have a local champion who is truly passionate about our local area and will fight to get the best deal on Brexit for both our community and the UK as a whole.
So today I ask for your vote, thank you.
