Kingsbury locals gathered for the opening of new vocal and performance academy, Riverside Studios, as it opened its doors for the first time on Saturday.
MP for North Warwickshire and Bedworth, Craig Tracey, kicked off the launch, cutting the ribbon to the new musical interest hub and greeting members of the community alongside Councillor Andy Jenns.
Visitors to the opening day were guided around the new facilities, comprising a purpose-built dance studio which will accommodate dance and fitness classes and serve as a rehearsal space for touring musicians; plus, three state of the art music studios where vocal classes and recording sessions will be held.
MP Craig Tracey said: “This academy is a great asset to the children and adults of the community as it will provide the opportunity to pursue their interests in the performing arts, with support from Riverside’s friendly team of accomplished performers”.
The day included live performances from the academy’s vocal coaches and award-winning singer-songwriter, Ben Drummond, which inspired demonstrations from dance instructors, Paul and Sarah Neary who will be running swing and lindy-hop classes in the coming months.
Directors of Riverside Studios, Katie Ashby and Stewart Whale, have ambitious plans to establish the academy at the heart of the local community, welcoming schools, touring musicians and community performances.
Talking about the first impressions and feedback received on Saturday, Katie comments: “I am overwhelmed at the positive response so far. There has been a lot of interest for singing classes, with many signing up for vocal coaching and we have almost reached full capacity on many of our dance and fitness classes.
“We aim to continue building our relationships with schools in and around the area to help support performing arts students. We also plan to extend our community offering to meet the needs and interests of locals.”
The location is also home to vintage entertainment company, Revival Live UK, which will utilise the studios for rehearsal space and occasional live shows featuring professional acts from its portfolio.
