It has become clear that since the decision made by the UK to vote to leave the EU, opposition parties and unelected members of the House of Lords have tried everything they can to derail the democratic will of the people.
With a small Government majority in such a significant period of negotiation with the EU, the Prime Minister has reached the conclusion that in the only way to ensure strong and stable leadership is to hold a General Election.
Locally, as someone who has done everything in my power to ensure that residents' will to leave the EU is respected, I welcome the opportunity for voters to secure the leadership needed to make a positive Brexit a reality.
I also welcome the opportunity for residents to judge me on my record over the last two years - keeping to my pledges of supporting our local economy and creating job opportunities, fighting HS2, supporting the George Eliot and working for safer local roads. I look forward to the campaign!
