Local MP for North Warwickshire and Bedworth Craig Tracey was one of the primary sponsors of a motion in Parliament last week that called for Philip Green to ‘fulfil his promise to resolve the BHS pension fund’ and due to his actions ‘recommend his Knighthood be cancelled’.
Mr Tracey explained:
“Philip Green’s actions led to the collapse of BHS leading to many people losing their jobs. We saw the impact of this in Atherstone recently with the BHS warehouse and the loss of hundreds of local jobs. That is why I was keen to sponsor this motion in Parliament for those local workers and one of the reasons to host a recent jobs fair in Atherstone. It is inexcusable and Mr Green does not deserve to keep his knighthood.”
MPs called for Philip Green to be stripped of his title, however, it is up to a committee headed by the UK’s most senior Civil Servant who would need to make a final decision.
