Local MP Craig Tracey has organised a public meeting on Friday 2nd September at Kingsbury Methodist Church, Tamworth Road about Arriva’s plans to axe the 116 bus service from Tamworth to Birmingham. The meeting will start at 7:30pm with doors opening at 7:00pm. Many local residents from Kingsbury and Curdworth have contacted Craig with their concerns and he would like to make sure that their voices are heard on this important issue. Craig has invited Arriva and Central Buses along and both companies have agreed to attend, so local people will also have the opportunity to air any questions they have about the replacement X16 service. The North Warwickshire MP said: “It is clear how much this bus service means to residents in Kingsbury and Curdworth; many people rely on the bus for work or shopping. I have organised this meeting alongside Councillor Andy Jenns to bring Arriva, Central and County Council representatives to listen to the concerns of residents. A new Central X16 service will be operating, however it is important that the needs of those who rely on the bus are met.” Craig has also met with Warwickshire County Council’s Passenger Transport Department about the issue to highlight the potential problems that the removal of the service will create for local residents. Warwickshire County Council have agreed to negotiate further with the bus companies on the points Craig has raised.
